OUR STORY
How it all started:
When my daughters started primary school, I was excited to support their love of reading by giving them money for their school book fairs. However, I quickly realised how expensive the books were. Determined to find a better solution, I started doing some research and discovered that I could source high-quality children's books at a much more reasonable price. This inspired me to start my own book fair company, aiming to make reading more accessible and affordable for all children.
In 1995, Harmony Children's Books was born, becoming the first company to offer half-priced children's books at school book fairs. Our mission was to transform the book fair experience, ensuring that every child had access to a wide range of wonderful books without breaking the bank, whilst also providing schools with 20% commission, in books, from all sales. This unique model not only made reading more accessible but also enriched school libraries, providing more diverse literature for children to explore.
Moving with the times:
Recognising the changing needs of schools and families, in 2020 we introduced the option of holding a Virtual Book Fair. This allows schools to seamlessly host book fairs online, maintaining the excitement of discovering new books while adapting to a digital age. Schools that participate in our book fairs still receive 20% commission, in books, from all sales, continuing our tradition of supporting educational communities.
Open to the public:
After receiving numerous requests from parents, we decided to create a website to sell our books directly to the public. Harmony Children's Books is now the best place to buy top-quality, half-price children's books for Key Stage One and Key Stage Two children. Our extensive collection includes picture storybooks, engaging chapter books, and captivating non-fiction titles. We believe that every child should see themselves in the stories they read and have the opportunity to learn about different cultures and perspectives. Our diverse range of books helps nurture well-rounded, thoughtful young minds.
